   Hi there,

   I am trying to find sponsorship in an entry-level job (yep, wish me luck). What I would like to know is if an company agree to take me on, and I get the E3 visa, do they have to pay to sponsor me? All the above companies sound wealthy so maybe they have cash reserves for this kind of thing, right?

   You wouldn’t know where I can find more infor on the subject, do you?

   P.S I’m from Sydney, have lived in Melbourne for a year and am trying to get work in Boston – and then dreaming of one day living in NY. I’m mirroring your path a little I noticed!

   Hi Natalie,
   It is great to have your goals and plan and keep believing and you will achieve it just maybe not exactly in the way you imagine
   Now the difficulty the larger companies you see in this list is yes the costs are not an issue for them and in reality the cost for an employer are non existant as you can see here; http://e3visa.info/2009/01/27/how-much-does-it-cost-to-get-your-e3-or-h1b-visa/
   However the issue more lies in that larger companies will always use a lawyer for visa related things out of ignorance and habit more than anything else as other visa like the H1B lend themselves to requiring the assistance of legal people. So that being said an employer of the sizes will view you as added cost vs. a local hire so the expense must be worth it. So the hires tend to be people higher than entry level or maybe if there is some personal connection between the candidate and someone within the company.
   Now that is not to say entry level positions are not possible but you want to aim for smaller companies for the most part assuming you don’t have personal connections to call on. I will probably do a post on a selection of the smaller companies who sponsored E3 visas but in reality your net is wide here but I just advise you to pick an industry segment to focus on and master it. You always at the back of your mind have to frame things with entry level of any other position why an employer would want the extra layer of work to hire you vs. a local candidate and present as such.

   Hi Jonathon,
   The E3 visa is only available for Australian citizens so you would not be able to apply for it. The best work visa to consider is the H-1B visa; http://e3visa.info/2009/03/10/what-is-the-h-1b-visa-how-do-i-get-one-now/. However you should note the many conditions regarding the process of obtaining this visa.

   Hi Charlene,
   Sorry for the delay in reply. I mean without going out and looking up those roles myself in NY, I am sure there would be. Additionally those Sales/Account Management type roles could also be found in related industries too like Online, Marketing, etc. so you could search more broadly as well. As for the E3 visa part that is really separate to the role and is really up to the company in question as to whether they are willing to sponsor a foreigner for the role. Very rarely (and it is illegal anyway to do it openly) are roles designated for foreigners.

   Hi,

   What is the best or most appropriate strategy in attainng an E3 Visa? There are companies such as Consultants Exchange who can assist in salary packaging but ultimately it is up to the individual to source the employment.

   I have been told the “easiest” way to find a job is to go to the US on a tourist visa, find a job and hope either the employer employs you on an E3 visa OR get a company like consultants exchange to sponsor you.

   Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

   hey all,

   I am trying to find sponsorship in an entry-level job, i have a few connection in the US. i know it won’t be easy but i will be going to the US in a few weeks and look for jobs

   i was wondering does industrial/ product designer qualify for E-3 visa (i am Australian)

   should i get all the forms fill in before i go so that if i do get a job i can go back to Australia and hand in the E-3 forms?

   i read through a lot of website and they still don’t tell you what kind of job qualify for E-3. is it similar requirement to the TN visa?

    Hi Donald.
    There aren’t that many forms to fill in and the important information you won’t have until after you find a company so no point doing that in advance. The best things to do in advance is applying and trying to setup interviews if you can prior to arriving in the US so you can maximize your time. Your line of work will be fine as long as the position states that a Bachelors Degree is a minimum requirement and you have the necessary minimum qualifications.     Hi there,
    Great site. I am a Private Investigator and just found out that my profession may be considered in the specialty occupations to obtain an E-3 visa. (yes im australian
    I also found a Company in NYC (a dream of mine also) willing to meet with me and very interested in giving me a position within their company if the meeting goes well. I am interested in finding out more information about their role in all of this and would love to have the information for them before this interview, as I dont think its fair to ask them for a job and have them do all the relevant work themselves…
    Can you give me any info on their role to employ me? The cost for them? How much of the time it will take for them? Anything would be useful, so I can turn up armed with all of this info to make their tast a little easier?
    I appreciate any help you can offer me..

    Hi,
    I’m registered with a recruitment agency and they said they’d be open to sponsoring me for the E3. They do mostly temp to perm roles, not straight permanent roles and they’d definitely have positions for me. Would this be possible? Would they have to employ me directly full-time and then subcontract me out as they pleased?

    I know I have to get a full time job to get the visa, but would the recruitment agency offer be a viable option? I have 2 tertiary degrees in my field.

    Any advice/help would be great as I have to let them know soon.

    Ultimately there is no cost for them as far as application costs are concerned and they just have to follow this process (http://e3visa.info/2010/01/15/e3-visa-process/). Your ultimate challenge is showing that your vast experience is an appropriate substitute for a bachelors degree in the US. It certainly is more than enough experience but ultimately the discretion of the Consulate to state whether it is adequate. Also the job you are applying to must have bachelors degree as a minimum requirement of the role.

    Hi Margaret,
    Technically the company sponsoring your visa has to be the one paying your salary and not contracting you out although it has known to be done. It just has a danger of being rejected. The role does not need to be full time, you are allowed to have one or my part time roles with each company listed on your E3 visa.

    I have a green card application in process with priority date Sep 06, am currently working in the USA on H1C visa which is about to expire. Would I be valid for an E3 visa? and would this affect my status with green card. PS I have australian citizenship/ passport too.

    Hi,

    I am having extreme trouble in finding work in the social worker field in New York. I have a Bachelor Degree and 3 years of work experience in the field. I want to apply for the E-3 VISA. I am also in a relationship with someone who lives in NYC hence why I would like to move here. Any tips in regards to my field of work? Is it easier just to get hitched?

    I’m desperate…..

    Hi, Please help its all so confusing , I am a sales person and F&I in the auto industry, 10 years expeirence. I have an employer willing to sponser me but have no idea what steps to take i have had to many different details on how to go about it . I am fully licenced and Qualified and requirements for this position ussually require a bach degree which I do not have , Though my employer still feels im more qualified than anyone they can find over there. Please if you could help would be so much appreciated.
