Green Card Lottery 2010 Results (DV-2010)

Green Card & Citizenship

Hopefully you are one of the green card lottery (diversity visa lottery) winners!

You should note that being selected as a winner does not guarantee you a green card as you must pass some additional criteria as well in the application process. The actual DV-2010 visas will be issued between the period of October 1, 2009, and September 30, 2010. Applicants must obtain the diversity visa or adjust status by the end of the fiscal year.

Unfortunately those who missed out on the green card and permanent residency will NOT receive any notification but for the first time ever will be able to check the status of their entry through the E-DV website.
You must have kept the confirmation page information from when you entered the DV Lottery between October and December 2008. The Status information for DV-2010 lotter is available online from July 1, 2009, until June 30, 2010.

Between May and July 2009 results should be sent out to the lucky applicants with an official letter from the U.S. Department of State Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky. All notifications are by mail to your nominated address and you should note that there is NOT any email notification. The notification letters will have additional instructions, including information about additional forms and other documentation required as well as immigrant visa application fees.

The Interviews for the DV-2010 visa lottery program begin in October 2009 and foreigners who applied overseas will receive an appointment letter from the Kentucky Consular Center about 5 weeks before the scheduled appointment.

The Green Card Lottery (DV-2011) will begin in October 2009 for those wanting to enter this year with more information about this lottery due by September.

Good Luck :)

I hope you can help. I was one of the lucky winners of the 2009 DV lottery and have an interview scheduled in London in July 2009.

Is it possible to change this interview date? If so, how do I go about it?

If the Green Card is issued, do I have to be in the USA before October 2009?

  2. admin  •  Jun 29, 2009 @4:49 pm

    Hi Mareli,
    Congratulations :)
I am not a complete expert with this but this is how I understand it. It depends on the consulate of the country you are talking about. (apparently Bangladesh for example does not allow you to change). I assume you have received your second letter outlining the interview date, your requirements, where to pay the non-refundable vis fee etc. To change this you will have to contact the UK consulate now.
You should note there are only a limited number of visas available and it is issued as first come first served basis. They also announce more lottery winners than there are no. of open spots assuming that many people will be denied or not take up the offer. So if you delay it there is a chance you may miss out all together as well.
You don’t have to be in the US at a particular date.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

    Hi,
I received the first notification letter some weeks ago in June and mailed all the required documents to the Kentucky office immediately.
The notification letter gave me a case number different from my online application confirmation number. I used the old confirmation number to check my status on the dv website today but it says that I have not been selected for further processing.
Could this have happened because my new case number has nullified my old confirmation number or does this mean that I have not been selected for the second step/interview phase?
I am a foreigner already in the US.
Also, how long does it take between sending out the documents and receiving an interview date?
    Thank you for your help.
    G.

  4. admin  •  Jul 2, 2009 @8:23 am

    Hi G,
In your particular case everything seems normal to me but I think the best thing you can do to clarify and give you peace of mind is to call the USCIS directly and just confirm those questions you have as I think this will give you the greatest reassurance. I don’t think in your particular case anything I say will give you this same comfort.
Congratulations on winning this year :)

    Thanks, CJ.
I hope you’re right and that I will receive an interview date.

    Hi G and admin,

I recieved my letting from the KCC dated the 28th May 2009 – my case number was something like 2010AF00008**** now i dont know personally if thats high or low but what i do know is, that i also tried to check online via http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ESC/ and it stated i was NOT selected… questioning this i called the KCC and they assured me i had been selected and they were having problems with there website and also told me to hold out till Monday… Ive randomly been checking since and it still gives me the same result so either the sites wrong or i just dont know – but confirmation from KCC means i dont have to worry i guess – bring on round 2 :)

P.S – i hope this helped in some way ?

  7. admin  •  Jul 6, 2009 @10:06 pm

Thanks Kevin for your story and experience and hopefully that will help all readers.
Congrats on winning as well and good luck with the next stage.

I am a ghanaian living in Italy (documents ok). I won the dv and my case number is 2010af00060xxx. Can you tell when I should expect the second letter and where I would be going for the interview, that is, in Italy or in Ghana? Thanks

  9. Miriam  •  Jul 27, 2009 @7:28 am

I received my notification letters two weeks ago. I’ll be sending the required documents this week.

Help me find answers to the following questions:

    1. Am I late with regards to my mailing my letters?

    2. What form of postage is accepted by KCC. Can I do EMS or any other service for a faster delivery of my documents?

    3. DS-230 Part 1, questions 10 and 11 required permanent address in the US where I intend to live and the name of any relative currently living there. Is this question applicable to DV Visa Lottery winners?

    4. I didn’t complete High School. I dropped out in the final year due to financial problems. I then undertook an Apprenticeship in Catering. I’m currently the Head Cook for a Private High School in my country and have being working since May 2007. Am I qualify as per this work experience?

    5. One of the questions on the DS-230 Part 2 form required the name and address of a petitioner. Can I use my own name and address or what does this question require?

I would like to post my documents on July 28, 2009. I would appreciate it, if you could respond to my questions early for me.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.

  10. admin  •  Aug 2, 2009 @1:17 pm

    Hi Nana,
I apologize for the delay as I only just returned to the US now from overseas and am working my way through all the messages.
I can’t tell you when you are meant to receive the 2nd letter but it is usually only a few weeks later. As for the interview, they will probably schedule it for Ghana but you may be able to change it if you call them but it is up to the USCIS.
    CJ

  11. admin  •  Aug 2, 2009 @1:32 pm

    Hi Miriam,
I apologize for the delay as I only just returned to the US now from overseas and am working my way through all the messages.
Congratulations on winning and hopefully you got your documents in on time. In any case a lot of these questions I am not sure of the exact answer to and would be best answered by the USCIS. In regards to the high school part, that can pose a problem if you didn’t graduate and becomes up to the discretion of the US consular official who assesses your case at your interview.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

    HI
    case# AS00004***
can you tell me please if there is a connection between the case number and the date of the interview)2nd letter) ? i mean does this mean i was among the the first 5000 out of 100000 who were selected or it depends on the date of receiving the applications. thank you

  14. Invest  •  Aug 7, 2009 @9:08 pm

    Dr. Fraser,

Yes your case number is connected to the date of the interview. Judging by the visa bulletin of November 2008 you should be down for an interview in November of this year. I have attached a link to the bulletin. Scroll down to B. DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY and you will see the cuttoff number for Asia which is 5300. Hope this helps

    Hey,

I received my first letter from Kentucky in April already. Until now I didn’t receive a letter for the interview. Does that mean I am not selected? Because i read that I was supposed to receive it just a couple of weeks after the first one.

    I appreciate a quick response.

    Thank you!

  17. Mareli Klopper  •  Aug 15, 2009 @4:56 pm

    Hi CJ,

thank you for your helpful answer a while ago.

The process (I was a GC lottery winner) has now moved on, and we have our immigration visas stamped in our passports, but the expiry date is 19 September 2009!! As we will not be able to sort out all our affairs and make our permanent move to the USA before that date, we were advised that we could go to the USA for a weekend trip, get the visas stamped and then return to the USA any time within a year. Is this acurate?

How will this work when we re-enter the USA with ‘expired’ visas and no physical green card yet? We are hoping to make our final move in November/December 2009.

    Looking forward to your reply!
    Thanks,
    Mareli

    Hi Khay,
The best thing to do is to call the USCIS and they can tell you what to do. I am sure if you received a legitimate letter you are fine as only the winners receive letters.
    Good Luck,

    Hi Mareli,
Well once you enter the US, they will mail you the actual green card in a few weeks. Now as far as I am aware they tend to only mail it to US addresses but I may be wrong. So if that is the case after leaving the US you could get someone in the US to send you the Green Card in the mail back to your current home.
Look given you have come this far I wouldn’t do anything that could disrupt you getting your actual green card so would follow their advice. Call the USCIS if you have further questions about your unique situation but it sounds like what they said is accurate.
    Good Luck<

  39. Barnabi  •  Sep 25, 2009 @12:06 pm

    Hi CJ,
I’m one of the winners of the 2010 DV Lottery and my case number is 2010AF00060***.To me it seams that’s a high one, making me believe that my second letter might not be coming too soon.I’m really not in a hurst cos I have an ongoing program to finish in June 09 though. But tell me pls,do they call people for interview according to the order of their case numbers?I mean like you have a low number it means you’ll be called first? If so,what becomes of me if by the time they get to a number like mine over there and the 55,000 visas have been exhausted?
    Thanks in advance.

  40. e3visa  •  Sep 25, 2009 @11:48 pm

    Hi Barnabi,
The best thing to do in this instance is contact the USCIS directly to see what your interview status is. It is true everything you say but the Green Card Lottery process can deviate at times and yes once the 55,000 visas are exhausted then there is no more so it is best to contact the USCIS as soon as you can by phone.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  41. Barnabi  •  Sep 28, 2009 @10:04 am

Thanks a lot for the instant reply CJ.You said I can contact USCIS by phone but remember they discouraged calls. This makes me fear that calling them might cause some problems like make them cancel my appointment.Do you mean violeting the instructions that we shouldn’t call won’t be harmful?Have other people called and succeeded?Pls this is really disturbing you know.Nobody wants to see a golden opportunity and just let go like that.Tell me if calling won’t be a problem and I’ll do just that pls.
    Thanks .

  42. e3visa  •  Sep 29, 2009 @12:44 am

    Hi Barnabi,
Calling the USCIS will not cause you to lose your chance as many people do it. They discourage calls to stop everyone calling up but if you have a legitimate issue or question that is not covered by the official site then it is only natural to call as many people do.
    CJ

  43. Barnabi  •  Sep 29, 2009 @8:48 am

Thanks a lot CJ,I’ll call them right away.Hopefully I’ll get back to you to share the good news.

  46. e3visa  •  Oct 3, 2009 @11:15 pm

    Hi Zabiullah.
The place to check green card lottery results for dv-2010 is http://www.dvlottery.state.gov. However if you have not already received a letter in the mail, then you probably have not won as the results were sent out mostly in May and June.
    CJ

  47. e3visa  •  Oct 3, 2009 @11:17 pm

    Hi Victor,
Well you can check your entry at http://www.dvlottery.state.gov for dv-2010 but you only hear in the mail if you win. So if you haven’t received anything by now then chances are that you did not win this year.
    CJ

I am a winner of DV-2010 from Bangladesh. I got my 1st letter at 18th june, 2009 and send the documents to KCC at 23rd June, 2009. Now i am waiting for my 2nd letter.

After sending the documents, i came to Australia for my masters studies. I am now here for about 3 months.

My questions to the veterans are-

    1. What is the probable month for my visa interview(my CN is over 11000)?

    2. Which is more feasible for me, to appear visa interview at Bangladesh or at Australia? if i appear for visa interview at Australia, in which geographical quota should i fit in(i heard that there is a geographical quota for the no. of people getting visa for each region)?

    3. How will i be notified for my visa interview date by KCC?

Thanking you all for your kind reply in advance.

Hi. I’m one of the winner of the dv2010 and i live in the USa under a F1 VISA, i received a package from KCC on may2009 and sent back dsp122 , dsp230 (1 and 2) i didn’t send a photo of me nor the dvfees (375 dollars i think).i just read through the previous questions and answers, if i believe what i read, i should have received a second letter from the KCC. My question is , Is it a problem if i haven’t received anything from there yet? should I have sent the $375 when I sent back the forms i filled out?.. I contacted the USCIS about the adjustement of status and they told me to send all my documentations after october 1st. my case number is 2010fa0003xxxx , is this high? do I have a chance to make it before the end of the year (sept 2010?)..What do you think about that? and what are your advices.
    Thank you. Jenn

    - also i want to know how to check status now without it.
    - i need to know when the 2nd mail should be sent.
-if i made fatal mistake for losing my confirmation number?if so what shall i do?
    please advise.

  53. e3visa  •  Oct 9, 2009 @12:28 am

    Hi Hell Driver,
    1. It is really hard to say when your visa interview will be but it should be very soon.
    2. I am not sure if you are able to choose your Consulate location for the Green Card Lottery sometimes but if you can, you should take advantage of going to a US Consulate in Australia.
    3. There is a quota per region but is determined by your birth nationality in most cases so you would fall under Bangladesh not Australia.
    4. All notifications should happen via mail.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  54. e3visa  •  Oct 9, 2009 @12:38 am

    Hi Jenn,
I think you should at least wait a while for your 2nd letter package and follow the advice of the USCIS. It sounds like you have done everything correctly thus far and in the end you can only go as fast as the process allows you too. I think you want to confirm whether you should wait till you receive confirmation of actually getting the green card from your interview before you do any Adjustment of Status from your F1 visa. Maybe contact the USCIS again in a month or so, if you still have not received that letter yet.
    CJ

If you are not legal in the UK, chances are if you win the lottery you will be required to attend the interview at a US consulate in Nigeria which seems to be your home country. You will have to include your son on the application definitely as failing to declare any non US citizen children, can immediately disqualify you. Your girlfriend should only be on your application in you get married prior to application. If not she maybe should apply separately if she is eligible.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  65. e3visa  •  Oct 24, 2009 @10:28 pm

    Hi Samuel,
I am not sure if that affect will ultimately affect you as that question is meant to be for US Social Security number applications only. Whether they check your name against Social Security records prior to selecting winners is unknown. If you are lucky enough to win, then you will have to explain all this in your US consulate interview.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

    Hi,
I am among these DV winners and my case number is 2010AF00027000. Could you tell me when I should expect my interview date since you have earlier said there is a connection between the case number and the date for the interview.
hoping to here from you soon.
    thank you.

my name is del. i won a dv lottery, i was supposed to graduate in nov 2009 but due to some financial reasons i cudnt graduate. by the time i filled the form, i didnt kno i wont graduate so i wrote ” to graduate in november”. will that pose a problem at my time of interview if im asked? or can i just tak along my transcript from school instead of the certificate since i dont have it now?

  68. Paulin  •  Oct 28, 2009 @8:58 pm

I am among the 2010 DV winners. My CN is 2010AF000205** . Cld u tell me pliz when I shd expect my interview date?
Hoping to hear from u soon,
    Thank u

  69. e3visa  •  Nov 1, 2009 @2:23 pm

    Hi Del,
Are you talking about graduating from high school or college? I assume you are talking about college so given that high school graduation is the supposed minimum requirement for the Green Card lottery, you should be fine. For your interview it is better to take all documents you think could be relevant just in case they ask for something.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

thank u so much but i was talkin about my college

  71. Dassy  •  Nov 2, 2009 @9:41 pm

    Hello,
I am Dassy, my wife and i are winners dv2010 seperately, I got my first letter in June and it was filled and send back to KCC in July and My wife got her letter in July and it was send in August. Now our problems are; I just read on a website that saying that if husband and wife recieve notification letters, one person should stop further process according to the dvlottery regulation, but it didn’t tell what will be the KCC decision.

    1. I want you to please tell us if this will disqualifies us since the both of us send back our first letters to KCC eventhough our informations and photos are the same on the both of us forms, accept I (husband) am Principal Applicant on my form and she’s spouse and she (wife) is the Principal Applicant on her form and husband as dependant. Please tell us what will happen to our program and how can we settle this problem.
    2. In our letter back to the KCC, our photos were cut by hand measurements will this also have infect on us?
    3. My case number is dv2010AF00043xxxxx while my wife number is 2010AF00068xxxx, can you tell us if we are not disqualify when should be expecting our second letter.
    4. We are Liberian residing in the Ivory Coast where we applied and got our notification letters where will our interview be held if.
Hope to hear from you soon.Your answer will really be agreat help to us. Thank you.

  72. Sasha  •  Nov 3, 2009 @3:49 am

    Hello,
When are we required to send in the $375 to KCC? It says that as long as we pay it until the Interview date, it should be ok. Is that true?

I am a 2010EU2010 DV winner, and currently trying to apply for Adjustment of Status, however I am waiting for my visa number to become available, which seems to happen more likely closer to spring.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Since after I visited USCIS offices in Manhattan, I still came out with a lot of unanswered questions, since the agents weren’t able to articulate clearly what should be the proper steps in processing DV while trying to Adjust Status here in the US. (I am currently on OPT)

Thank you very much for any information.
    Sasha

  73. e3visa  •  Nov 5, 2009 @2:44 am

    Hi Dassy,
Congratulations on both winning the DV Lottery separately in the same year. That is certainly amazing!
    1. You shouldn’t be disqualified for that reason but should just continue the process with one of you from now on. Whoever’s is the earlier one in the queue.
    2. As long as your photos met the specifications required, the fact it was cut by hand should not matter either.
    3. You should get your second letter very soon as many already have.
    4. I imagine your interview will be specified for Liberia although at the point you can see if you can change venue.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  74. e3visa  •  Nov 5, 2009 @2:53 am

    Hi Sasha,
To be honest the reason why cases like yours are never fully explained by most officials at the USCIS is that they don’t know the answer b/c your situtation is much more rare and not a normal documented situation.
I am not sure exactly what is the best course of action for you but if I were you I would just continue to follow the DV lottery process and pay the fee as required. I think you have time up until the Interview Date as well from what I understand as the Interview itself is when fees are usually paid. Given you are already within the US and doing Adjustment of Status, you may want to try speaking to USCIS again until you get someone who knows for sure or ask a legal expert with this.
Sorry I couldn’t help you more,
    CJ

  75. Aristide  •  Nov 6, 2009 @8:47 pm

    Hello CJ,

I have been getting on this blog for a while without writting anything. Im also a 2010 winner from Africa currently in the US on F1 Visa. My number is 2010AF00042***. Just like Sasha I chose to do the Adjustment of status. also chose to I received my first letter in may and sent everything back including paying the 375 fee to the office in Missouri (i HAVE THE RECEIPT AND i’M JUST WAITING). I called the Kentucky office once and they said USCIS is now in charge of my case…There doesn’t seem to be clear rules as to how the process goes between USCIS and the Kentucky Office and that doesn’t help.
Do you think I should have done what Shasha did which is to wait until a visa number becomes available? (which you only find out when u receive a second letter)….

And Shasha, we are in the same situation..is it possible that we can exchange emails to communicate on how things are going?

    Thank you very much.

  76. Dassy  •  Nov 8, 2009 @6:37 am

Thanks very much for the, may God bless you.

  77. e3visa  •  Nov 8, 2009 @2:08 pm

    Hi Aristide,
Yeah like with Sasha, I don’t have any better information for you but at least I congratulate you winning the Green Card lottery and hope you transfer officially soon. Maybe if you keep trying to ring the USCIS given you are already in the US, you may eventually come upon a really knowledgable person to answer your questions as there are the odd few. Also failing that, it may be the unfortunate step on having at least a mini consultation with an Immigration lawyer. (maybe try visapro.com and while I am not sure myself how good they are, they seem to have an option where you can chat to them online briefly)
    Good Luck,
    CJ

    2. I want to kno if your photo sent to kCC don’t meet the photo standard requested in the 1st NL, could that affect you aswell?

1-do you think that i will be disqualified for i sent back my forms tooo late and they requires it to be send as soon as possible?
2-the photo which i sent along with my forms meet all other requirements apart from its BACK GROUND which was A LIGHT BLUE back ground.do u think that i will still be disqurified for that mistake coz they require a WHITE or OFF-WHITE Background?
3-if not when should i expect my selecond letter?

  83. e3visa  •  Nov 15, 2009 @2:08 pm

    Hi Tracor,
All the things about you mention with your name and the forms are things you clarify with the US Consular officer when you go for your interview. If it is all legitimate you will be fine as different countries have different conventions with names which they will be aware of.
If your photo is not correct then it could effect that application but that is up to the KCC and yes if you need to contact anyone contact the USCIS and see if they have any advice.
    CJ

  88. Anne  •  Nov 15, 2009 @11:54 pm

    Hi CJ,

I am about to fill out my DV form for 2011. On this for they ask you to state the country in which you were born. My parents and I were born in Bosnia, however I have been naturalized in the Netherlands 17 years ago. I feel Dutch and would say I’m Dutch.
I have been following the admittance numbers per country and each year about 200 people from the Netherlands get a Greencard while only ~75 from Bosnia get one.
    I have two questions:
    1. Does this mean that the chances of getting a GC, if you are from the Netherlands are higher than if you are from Bosnia (ie. does the number of GC always follow the same ratio per country)?
    2. Would I be disqualified if I claim eligibility under the Netherlands? (this would not be the country in which I was born, but the country of my nationality)

    Thanks

    Anne

  89. e3visa  •  Nov 16, 2009 @12:43 am

    Hi Mahmud,
The USCIS Contact page is here. Please not that they may not provide with all the info you need as their are rules for the Green Card Lottery but see how you go as they are the only official source.
    CJ

  90. e3visa  •  Nov 16, 2009 @12:50 am

    Hi Anne,
You can read more deeply about the Green Card Lottery itself here and the rules governing it.
    As far as your question is concerned;
    1. They try and spread the amount of green cards issued around the world so it isn’t just the largest population countries that always win so it produces diversity for the US. The proportions are not the same every year and are completely up to the US Government in any particular year but they do try like I said to spread it around. That being said even it was 200 every year from the Netherlands and 75 from Bosnia, that still means the chances are greater from Bosnia as the population of the Netherlands in 16.4 million and Bosnia is only 3.7 million. So it would be expected that far more people would apply who are Dutch. So proportionately the chances for a Bosnian are higher
    2. As far the Green Card / Diversity Lottery Rules are concerned it seems like you would only be eligiblie as a Bosnian. The only way you can claim eligibility from another country is if at least one of your parents at the time of your birth were a citizen of another country. Since from your post it seems like you were all Bosnian when you were born, then that is the country you have eligibility under. So yes claiming under another country in this circumstance can mean they can reject you if you happened to win.
Like I said your chances would be greater under Bosnia anyway so Good Luck.
    CJ

My case number is 2010EU00001924 , Iam not scheduled yet, I worry about that. I write to KCC , they replied that my case number is being processed, Due to the large volume of mail processed at KCC on a daily basis, confirmation of receiving My correspondence may not be feasible at this time. Mail is processed in the order of the date received, thus the importance of submitting my forms in a timely manner.
What is the last case number scheduled at US embassy? Does anybody Know about it.

  101. Somea  •  Dec 9, 2009 @1:47 pm

    Dears,

I am worried for the reason that I did not receive the second letter until now despite the fact that my case number has become current for January. I have confirmed that a certain number of mail has arrived at the local post, in which I am not included. the postal men in fact told me there are many people who do not receive like me and the guess that a second bunch of mail could arrive soon. However, I suspect this as it has never happened to send the mails in two rounds or more for a single month.

In fact I had called to KCC and the agent has told me my interview is scheduled on January XX and she told me to wait until December 25 to receive the letter. I have also emailed just a day before but I did not receive reply till now.

Therefore now I am eager to know whether there is a case where mails are sent more than ones for the same month or just ones for every month. Please guys tell me your experiance with regard to this.

    Thank you!!!!
    Somea,

  102. CROWNEDNVICTORY  •  Dec 11, 2009 @1:44 am

Hi Somea, I am a 2010 dv winner from Europe. Hope you have received your 2nl since posting this, if not, you should email KCC again, stating your name, place of birth, age, date of birth. Make sure you get an auto reply after you send the message. That is the confirmation that your mail will be routed to the appropriate location. You should expect a reply within a week or less.

Print out their reply which should state the date you have already been told via phone conversation. You can use this to go to the US embassy in your country along with your international passport, and 1st page of your 1st nl with that, you can collect a medical form to commence your medicals if you have not already done so.

If per chance you don’t receive your 2nl before your interview. You should use that print out to gain admission into the embassy for your interview. Of course you will have to go to the embassy before your interview date to confirm and finalize.

In countries with bad postal service some people don’t receive their 2nl till after their interview!

    All the best.

  103. Somea  •  Dec 11, 2009 @6:20 am

    Dear DERESHAYE,

I am from Ethiopia like you. It is possible to find out when your interview date in either way: phone or email.

There is no way to truly know the status so you will just have to wait. Doing things in your own handwriting shoud not be a problem though.

  105. e3visa  •  Dec 12, 2009 @2:08 pm

    Hi Marwan,
You can always try and contact KCC but they generally discourage it and are unlikely to respond. It is always possible the quota for this year has been exhausted as they always issue more lottery winners than actual places as they know many people will be denied. Hopefully you will hear a reply soon.

i am writing in reference to what somea wrote, but also just wanted to thank cj so much for all your time and help!!

somea, i have the exact same problem (current case number for january but no second letter yet). i hadn’t called KCC yet because i thought we weren’t supposed to, but i see from this page that it is tolerated so i may try in a few days! (i just sent an email this morning). do you think if you don’t ever receive that second letter, you can go to your interview anyway? are the forms available for download online?

i did have one other concern–in an earlier email i received from KCC, they said that the letter would arrive “if the forms have completed processing”. i assumed the problem was simply that the letter got lost in the mail, but is it possible that my forms are still in processing and i won’t be scheduled in january, even though my number is current according to the visa bulletin? if that happens, will they schedule me later (whenever the forms have completed processing) even if they are on to higher numbers? i didn’t send the forms in THAT late (early august), but they were later than other peoples’ because i never received the first letter and had to wait until august 1 to request info by email.

    thanks everyone!

    Hi Clayton,
As you can see from the many comments on this post that so many people are in the same situation as yourself with delays. You can try and contact the KCC and/or USCIS as many people here have and hopefully you will get a positive reply. However there is not much information I can help you with as the Green Card Lottery procedure is very unknown on the back end.

  119. maryam  •  Dec 30, 2009 @10:39 pm

    Hi,
I won DV-Lottery 2010. I have filled out all the related forms and
have sent them for Kentucky. In November, they gave an appointment for
interview which is in 5th of January 2010. In 10th of December, I have
received a letter from embassy of USA in Frankfurt that stated because
I made a mistake and list my country of citizenship (Germany) instead
of my country of birth (Iran) in entry form, I will be highly
disqualified. Actually this letter comes to me after I did all the
    tests.
So I have two questions: first, provided that we attend the
appointment in embassy and explain the mistake (as you know Iran is
not forbidden country in lottery), do I have any chance? Also, will
there be any problem for me if I go to embassy and get disqualified?

  120. ToMmY  •  Jan 1, 2010 @10:01 am

    Hi Maryam,

Kindly be informed that this problem might affect your appointment as the most important for them is being honest regardless that you have done that by spontaneous or not!
but we have only 1 chance in which they are some kind of physiologist so if your words proved that you are honest they might be accept you.

    best wishes and good luck..

    Hi Maryam,
As Tom has already stated this could be an issue b/c nominated country of application plays a role in the way that winners are allocated as the US don’t want too many winners from one country or region in the world but to be distributed all around. However you can always try and explain things in your interview but it will certainly be difficult as is a more fundamental error than say if you spelt your name wrong or got your birth date wrong.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

so i want to help ppl as much as i can as i was one of them and was very perplexing issue.

    Thank you again

  124. Hürol Aslan  •  Jan 5, 2010 @9:13 am

    Hello everyone,
My wife had applied for dv-2010 from Turkey, and was selected for the first consideration, but had not received any notification for an interview. It turns out that she had won an interview for December 3rd, but that notification was written by KCC on Sept. 23rd, barely a month before the appointment. Due to mishaps on the mail, we received it on Christmas day. Since all the official documents told us not to trust websites, etc. we had not thought of checking on her status through other means. Only now, we realize that the embassy in Ankara had even been listing the appointment dates on the web, and we did not have to wait for the official notification to go to the interview.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced such a delay and has been able to reschedule the interview. The Embassy is not answering calls, not answering our email pleas, and not considering rescheduling in the absence of a documentable emergency, but that,s not possible for us, s,nce the date is already in the past. Any hints will be appreciated.

    Best luck for everyone.

  132. Ahzia  •  Jan 21, 2010 @5:41 pm

    Dear

I have a question, and will pleased to get reply for that.
My petitioner who is a USA citizen, filed Form I-130 and send me with some other documents such as copy of annual tax report. I have them to take to US Embassy on the day of my visa interview. My question is: does this filed form need to be registered in any office in USA by my petitioner or not, before i take them to Embassy? or it belongs to consulare officer to find it is valid or not?

    Thanks for your cooperation

  133. Ahzia  •  Jan 21, 2010 @5:47 pm

I mean does my petitioner need to file it by herself and send me or there is an office in USA that files it so that it can be valid.

  134. e3visa  •  Jan 23, 2010 @2:16 am

    Hi Ahzia,
I am not sure of your question. I assume you won the Green Card Lottery and are about to go for your interview. Once you get the 2nd letter and notification of your US Embassy/Consulate appointment, you can go, bringing with you all the relevant documents. Nothing has to be registered in the US.
If you are someone who has been sponsored by a US citizen, then that is a different question and method and will need to know more to answer properly.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  135. Ahzia  •  Jan 23, 2010 @6:39 am

Thank you so much for your reply.

let me write you again about my problem.
I am DV 2010 winner, i am schadualled for interview. My interview letter mail to me by KCC, but i did not recieve it yet. As i need to have Affidavit of Support from my petitioner. Now my question is:

Do I need to have I-864 Affidavit of Support or I-134 Affidavit of Support from my petitioner?

How long is it valid, from the date it is signed by my Petitioner?

I hope i could explain it properly
    Thanks again for your cooperation

From what you wrote me, i could understand some from it that can help me.

    Hello Yoham,

Kindly note that the current number according to Asia’s Continent 12,000 not 3,0000
so you can wait and follow up via the following website under (
    C. ADVANCE NOTIFICATION OF THE DIVERSITY (DV) IMMIGRANT CATEGORY RANK CUT-OFFS WHICH WILL APPLY IN MARCH)
but actually you can wait recheck after march as it seems will be delivered isA almost between April and July
how to be delivered safely and you win the lottery soon isA….

I am a DV winner and I just received my NL in January 20, 2010. My case number is 2010AF00060xxx. Should I still proceed with posting my Application since the KCC has not yet started serving my case number category or i shouldn’t waste my time because its too late for me.

  141. NORA  •  Jan 27, 2010 @5:34 pm

hi,Tom.i wrote before but has not gotten any reply. i have another complain pls, while filling my form i did not write my case number at the right hand conner of the forms.will this be a problem pls. and so i decieded to send another for which i printed out from the main site. please i need some advice.

  142. ToMmY  •  Jan 27, 2010 @8:07 pm

    Hello Nora,

1st concern i just wanna tell you case number is current in February isA. :D :D
don’t worry it will be delivered in the half of March or may be less.
2nd concern , all i want to let you know is that as long as you received second letter and you or you found your case number is current you can modify this info or it might be not so important for them to write it.
NB: if there were a mistake like unchecked question …etc, in the application they may send you back to recheck and resend them again, so don’t ever worry.

    Don’t worry and Good Luck
    ~Tom ~

  143. ToMmY  •  Jan 27, 2010 @8:10 pm

    Hello kyei,

    Kindly clarify more.

    ~ T0M ~

  144. kyei  •  Jan 28, 2010 @12:16 am

I am from ghana and a DV 2010 winner. I have the case number 2010AF0060xxx. I have just mailed my application to the KCC. Do I stand a chance of being invited for an interview and when should I expect to receive my appointment letter. thank you.

  145. ToMmY  •  Jan 29, 2010 @8:05 pm

    Hello Kyei,

the current number are processing 29,600
i think that you have to wait a couple of months and check your case from the following website under (
    C. ADVANCE NOTIFICATION OF THE DIVERSITY (DV) IMMIGRANT CATEGORY RANK CUT-OFFS WHICH WILL APPLY IN MARCH)
    http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html
so after receiving the 2nd letter isA you will be requested to start over collection and preparing your papers.
have a good luck sooner isA.
    ~T0M~

  146. e3visa  •  Jan 31, 2010 @4:20 pm

    Hi Ahzia,
Rarely is the Affidavit of Support needed for the Green Card Lottery (http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html) as it is more used in cases of family Green Card sponsorship. As the intention of the Green Card you will hopefully receive is that you are able to work so that you will be able to financially support yourself. Is that not going to be the case in your situation? In the end all these extra support documents can’t hurt for your interview but they in most cases are not officially required as far as the Green Card Lottery is concerned.

    Good Luck,

  162. e3visa  •  Feb 10, 2010 @3:17 am

    Hi Kyei,
Obviously doing anything late can delay or mean things go further behind in the queue. However I would check your case number online to see how things are progressing and go to the http://dvlottery.state.gov website for all main contact details.

  164. ToMmY  •  Feb 12, 2010 @10:41 pm

    Hello Nora,

    How are you doing, please take note that as long as the number is not passed yet;
you have to be calmed down as the next processed numbers for your country is “Nigeria: 14,350 ” for March
if your case number less than or equal 350 then you will going to receive the letterin March
in case it was greater than this number you will have to wait till april
    as don’t be annoyed ever!!
Remember as CJ said before “It’s Just a Matter of Time”

    Have Good Day…

    Thanks,

Hi, I confirmed from the KCC that my forms have been received on 10 February, 2010 and are waiting to be processed. It seems that the KCC has received my forms very late. My case number is 2010AF00060+++. My concern is that, will the KCC schedule me for an interview once my case number category is current even though my forms were received late.

  167. Ahzia  •  Feb 16, 2010 @4:41 pm

    Hi

Based on my request, I have got an email from KCC, they confirmed my interview date and the date they have sent me my interview letter visa post. So I am have that my interview has been schedualed.

However, from now (Feb 16) up to the day of my interview, i have less than 10 days, but my intervidw letter has not reached to my address yet. In fact my country has really poor postal service that sometimes it takes up to 2 months that a package arrive in the post. So could you please advise me, what should i do. if i do not get my letter before my interview. Should i contact KCC or the related embassy?

    Thanks

    Hi,
I need help so much. I am a winner of 2010 lottery. My interview was scheduled on th 7th of Jan, but I haven`t received the second package from KCC at all. And when I called them in Feb because I had read the visa bulletin, they told me that I have missed my interview. I do not know what to do. Please help me. I am desperate. I would have known by now the result. Do I still have any chances?

  170. e3visa  •  Feb 27, 2010 @5:35 pm

    Hi Ahzia,
The best thing to do is to contact your US embassy and see what their directive is or even the KCC as you suggested.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  171. e3visa  •  Feb 27, 2010 @5:42 pm

    Hi Lord,
You can always try and contact the KCC but sometimes they may not respond to all types of questions but if the date is published as such then you can be pretty much assured it is correct.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  172. e3visa  •  Feb 27, 2010 @6:00 pm

    Hi Maria,
The only thing you can do is try and contact the KCC or your US embassy and see what advice they can give you with the delayed mail package as there is nothing any outside party can do to help this unfortunately.
    Good Luck,
    CJ

  173. e3visa  •  Feb 27, 2010 @6:18 pm

    Hi Kyei,
I think you will be fine if you just keep following the process as you have been and if need be keep in contact with the KCC if there is a big issue.
    Good Luck,
